IMPACT’s Deaf Services is committed to providing peer support, information and advocacy for all persons who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing of all ages.
We focus on promoting equal treatment for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing residents in education, employment, legislation and any other field pertaining to or affecting the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing people in their pursuit of economic security, social equality and their rights and privileges as residents. We protect the rights of Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing residents and promoting awareness, independence, social, community involvement, productivity, and integration into the community. IMPACT seeks to eliminate societal and communication barriers to improve equal access for people who are deaf or hard of hearing.
IMPACT advocates for people of all ages who are deaf or hard of hearing to enable them to express their freedoms, participate in society to their individual potential, and reduce their isolation regardless of location, socioeconomic status, or degree of disability.
We work to give professional advice to colleagues from social services, education, professionals, health, police, probation and voluntary agencies.
We also offer additional programs including Sign Language classes, education training on Deafness, workshops and support groups.
